Once Upon a Time was a massive hit that eventually settled into a solid long-running series. It ran for seven seasons and built a large fanbase around its core concept of a fairy-tale crossover set in the real world. Now, rumors of a reboot are spreading across social media, and stars from the original series have shared their thoughts on the possibility in a recent interview.

Cast members are open to returning

During a panel discussion at the Calgary Expo, Captain Hook and Robin Hood actors from the series, Colin O’Donoghue and Sean Maguire, stated that they were open to the idea of a possible return if a reboot is greenlit.

O’Donoghue noted that revisiting the series is something that comes up in conversations, but ultimately depends on the creators. He added that the studio would need to gauge whether fans would actually want a reboot. “I think it would depend [on] if people wanted it,” he said. He also pointed out that the show could easily continue by drawing from countless myths and fairy tales, even without focusing on the original characters.

“What was great about Once Upon a Time was that they could bring in any character. So maybe, yeah, maybe. I don’t know if Captain Hook would be in it, but maybe,” he added.

Meanwhile, Maguire noted that it would take a “miracle” for him to return, given that his character Robin Hood died in Season 5.

Previously, O’Donoghue had also mentioned that he had spoken with the creators and others about a potential return. It’s safe to say there is interest from the cast and some informal discussions around a revival, but there has been no official confirmation of a reboot from The Walt Disney Company.

Once Upon a Time wrapped up on a heartfelt note, with Regina (Lana Parrilla) fully embracing her redemption as the Good Queen and uniting the realms into one kingdom, bringing lasting peace. At the same time, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook looked ahead to a hopeful new chapter as they raised their daughter, Hope.
