DC fans are about to be spoiled on a whole other level. The studios are working on a multitude of projects, be it TV series or movies. To make it even better, James Gunn shared the latest update on Wonder Woman’s prequel series Paradise Lost, and here’s everything we know so far!

James Gunn shares update on Paradise Lost

James Gunn on X responded to a fan who asked about the status of Booster Gold and Paradise Lost and whether they’re getting canceled. The Director replied, saying, “BG is in development. PL is in extreme development.”

He didn’t clarify what he meant by extreme development, but it is likely that Gunn will share the status of the series sometime soon with the fans. It is speculated that the series might be in the works or even in pre-production stages.

Paradise Lost, for the uninitiated, is a prequel series that focuses on Themyscira and the events happening before the birth of Wonder Woman. It will follow the history and the backdrop of the internal war within the Amazon folk.

While there are external threats, including Ariadne’s orchestration of a feud among the Themyscirans, internal threats arise due to a civil war that ensues as a result of the friction between Bana Mighdall and Themysciran Amazons.

The series would be based on Phil Jimenez and George Perez’s 2001 story of the same name. The name itself is inspired by John Milton’s poem Paradise Lost

Back in 2023, when the series was announced, Gunn gave a glimpse of what the show is about, saying, “Paradise Lost is a story of Paradise Island, usually known as Themyscira, which is the birthplace of Wonder Woman. It’s almost like Game of Thrones with Westeros, but with all the inhabitants of Paradise Island.”

While the story features Princess Diana, it is unlikely that her character would be featured in the series, as some reports suggest. It is rumored to be mostly focused on the civil war, internal conflicts, and the aftermath of the events in Themyscira, even way before the character’s birth.

The release date and production details for the series are yet to be disclosed as of now.
