The Coyote vs ACME trailer throws major shade at Warner Bros. by drawing attention to the controversial cancellation of a movie project by this studio. This trailer, which appeared on April 22, 2026, by Ketchup Entertainment, directly refers to the film’s previous connection to Warner Bros. Its caption, “The movie ACME doesn’t want you to see,” alludes to the reason why the studio decided to abandon this movie. Now it is scheduled for a theater screening on August 28, 2026.

Coyote vs ACME Trailer Turns Real Controversy Into Marketing

The Coyote vs ACME trailer throws major shade at Warner Bros. by including the most controversial element of the film, such as mentioning, “[Warner Bros] is a wholly owned subsidiary of the ACME corporation.” The line by Wile E. Coyote also says, “Happy Tax Day… Check your write-offs.”

Such a choice of marketing tactics alludes to the public backlash that occurred due to the decision of Warner Bros. Discovery to shelve a film worth $70 million to save the corporation $30 million on taxes. As a result, this controversy helped release it into the open market, and it has been sold for $50 million to Ketchup Entertainment.

In this animated courtroom drama, Wile E. Coyote sues the ACME Corporation because it is a multinational conglomerate selling faulty goods during the past few years. Will Forte portrays the lawyer representing Coyote, called Kevin Avery, a down-and-out lawyer dealing with the “biggest cartoon court case ever.” John Cena will play Buddy Crane, the defendant’s attorney.

Lana Condor participates in a secret role, whereas Road Runner, Daffy Duck, and Bugs Bunny make cameo appearances in the movie.

Filming in New Mexico took place in 2022, and the film was supposed to be released the next year. However, its theatrical debut didn’t happen due to Warner Bros. pulling it from their lineup and releasing it later. One of the jokes present in the trailer shows Warner Bros. Discovery as a subsidiary of ACME.

Director Dave Green promotes the comeback of this project on social networks using #CoyoteVsAcmeLives. It emphasizes that such an ending to the story of a shelved movie is rather rare. Digital release date hasn’t been announced yet.
