Another actor is going to join the upcoming movie, Man of Tomorrow, by DC Studios. On Threads, director James Gunn confirmed that Andre Royo will star in Man of Tomorrow, which is the sequel to Superman (2025). This marks a quiet reunion with Gunn for the actor, almost 15 years after they starred together in Super (2010). Production for the movie starts the week of April 20, 2026, with a theater release scheduled for July 9, 2027.

However, Gunn kept secret what role he would be playing in the movie. His post on the platform emphasized the joy that he was feeling to once again collaborate with the actor, with whom he hadn’t worked for over a decade. Nevertheless, his words have led fans to immediately begin speculating as to which character the actor might play.
It appears that one of the most popular speculations involves Martian Manhunter (J’onn J’onzz). Gunn recently shared on his Twitter an image that includes a product called Chocos that the character enjoys eating. Moreover, his other appearances always feature his ability to portray grounded characters.
Following recent updates from CinemaCon 2026, the DC sequel has been gaining momentum. Its leads David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult explained that the story revolves around the relationship between Superman and Lex Luthor against Brainiac.
The sequel also introduces Eidinger Lars in the role of the main antagonist and Arjona Adria as Maxima. Aaron Pierre reprises his role as John Stewart, introduced in the Lanterns movies.
Moreover, some of the stars of the first film will also make their appearance. They include Rachel Brosnahan, who returns as Lois Lane, alongside Skyler Gisondo in the role of Jimmy Olsen. Also returning are Sara Sampaio and Isabela Merced.
As production on the film is about to start, Royo’s addition brings another exciting aspect to the sequel.
