Zendaya and Tom Holland are celebrated as Hollywood’s ‘It’ couple. The pair has been going strong for over 8 years, but here’s the thing. It’s not always praise but envy, too, as Zendaya admits her jealousy over Tom Holland’s backflips.
Zendaya speaks on Tom Holland’s ability to do backflips
Recently, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson promoted their film The Drama. They asked each other questions over a card game, and in one such question, Pattinson asked, “Who’s the person in your life you’re most jealous of?”
Zendaya replied saying, “I do think that sometimes people, specifically my own person, who can do backflips… like that, that kinda pisses me off, because I’m like, ‘What do you mean you can just [do that]?’ It’s unfair.”
A24 uploaded the clip on their Instagram account, and netizens called her answer cute. This isn’t the first time she has praised Holland in an interview. The popular star recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she was asked who the best Spider-Man was, according to her.
The actress gushed about Holland and admitted that he was her favorite Spider-Man. She also said he was her ‘favorite person to work with,’ and quite honestly, her statement on the backflips remains spot-on.
Tom Holland has a background in ballet and gymnastics. He trained in acrobatics at a very young age. This helped him bag a role in Billy Elliot’s Musical in 2006 when he was 12 years old.
In a 2023 podcast with Jay Shetty, Holland also opened up on his ballet background, “I went to a rugby school, so you can imagine, like the one kid in the school that does ballet, there’s going to be comments here and there. It wasn’t the easiest thing in the world. Some kids didn’t understand why I was doing it or what I was doing it for.”
For his role in Spider-Man, Holland trained excessively in martial arts, especially jiu-jitsu. His background in sports and dance came in handy.
As of now, Zendaya and Tom Holland are set to star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will release on 31 July 2026.
