Nearly twenty years after the original became a hit, ‘The Devil Wears Prada‘ is finally back with a bang. ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2‘ has finally given us its first look, via a teaser released by 20th Century Studios, bringing back Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway as Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs. Fans have been waiting a long time for this, and the excitement is soaring above the roof.
The short trailer quickly reminds us why the first movie was so loved and such a huge hit. We get to see Miranda and Andy meet again in an elevator, and that one scene captures their old tension and humor. When Miranda says, “Took you long enough,” it feels as if she is speaking directly to us, who have been waiting nineteen years, and, of course, Andy too.
The Iconic Duo Reunites in a Modern Setting with Familiar Faces

From what we can tell, The Devil Wears Prada 2 wants to keep the same mix of style, ambition, and wit that made the original a classic. Miranda remains powerful, while Andy appears more confident this time, suggesting that their relationship has evolved from what we remember. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are also returning, as per the cast list, although they don’t appear in the teaser yet.
And so, we are once again back in New York City, surrounded by fashion and the offices of Runway magazine. Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the sequel adds new faces like Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, and Pauline Chalamet. As you can expect, these new characters seem to reflect a fashion world now shaped by social media and new cultural trends.
From the look of the tease, we can say that the film looks ready to explore how power and identity change in a world that’s always reinventing itself. Familiar names like Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman return as Lily and Irv, keeping a link to the first story. There are also rumors that Sydney Sweeney might join the cast, though that hasn’t been confirmed.

Revisiting Themes of Confidence and Self-Discovery

As we know, The Devil Wears Prada was never just about clothes or the fashion industry itself, as it told us a story about a young woman trying her best to survive in a world that she had no idea about. And because of these characteristics, the movie has often been described as being about ambition, confidence, and finding one’s place. And this time, perhaps, we can expect those same themes to return, updated for a new era.
Produced by Wendy Finerman, with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and Aline Brosh McKenna as executive producers, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. And based on the teaser, we can expect a smart and stylish comeback that shows fashion, like good stories, never really goes out of style.
