Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released this year. It is one of the most anticipated films from Marvel Studios and the 4th installment of the Spider-Man franchise. While it’s all wrapped up, Tom Holland shared the tidbits of the film’s process of layering villains.

Tom Holland addresses Spider-Man 4’s layering of villains

Tom Holland recently did an interview with GQ where he spoke about his upcoming projects. The actor praised Odyssey and also gave a peek into Spider-Man 4’s approach to villains.

“I can positively say that the stuff we’re doing, we don’t need. The movie works and sings as it is. We’re just adding the icing on the cake in certain areas. We’re finding some ways to add a little bit more humor. We’re layering in a villain plotline in a new way and some really fun stuff.”

Now, the new ways have added scenes that would add extra substance and gravitas to the film. He didn’t delve deep into it, but the actor did praise his upcoming film with Zendaya, The Odyssey. The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, stars Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, and Charlize Theron in central roles.

As for Spider-Man 4, the movie will focus on the events that follow after No Way Home. People have forgotten Spider-Man after Peter Parker requests that Doctor Strange erase everyone’s memory. This was done to strengthen the multiverse but also to protect the ones around him.

In doing so, Parker also finds himself letting go of his relationship with MJ in order to safeguard her. The fourth film will focus on the main character’s life, his journey as he navigates a world where no one now recognizes who he is.

The film will have actors reprising their roles. Zendaya will return as MJ, Mark Ruffalo will play his iconic role as The Hulk, Jon Bernthal will return as The Punisher, and Michael Mando will reprise his role as The Scorpion.

What’s even more interesting is Sadie Sink’s addition to the cast that has everyone on tenterhooks as to what her role would be, but it’s all a mystery for now!

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated for release on July 31st, 2026.
