After playing one of our beloved characters from the super hit Netflix series, Max Mayfield, aka Sadie Sink, isn’t fighting demodogs or skating through the roads of Hawkins anymore. She is apparently stepping into the MCU, which is already reshaping conversations around Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the upcoming Secret Wars

There is something about her arrival that instantly sent all of us into theory mode, because Sink brings the kind of presence that rarely enters a franchise quietly. The moment she was confirmed for Spider-Man, speculation exploded across every corner of Marvel fandom, ranging from street-level vigilantes to multiverse legacy icons. And the deeper everyone looks, the clearer it becomes that her role might end up being one of the biggest pieces of Marvel’s long-term puzzle.

This casting is a game-changer, as it gives us Multiverse possibilities

Surprisingly, as always, everything begins the way these things always do: the red-hair theories. Mary Jane Watson naturally jumped to the top of the list, but that idea falls apart quickly given how firmly Zendaya’s MJ is rooted in the current MCU timeline. Jean Grey floated around, too, mostly because of fan habit, but her character carries such massive X-Men weight that dropping her into an already stacked Spider-Man film would feel like forcing a whole big fist through a keyhole.

Firestar, though, suddenly sounded more believable, and her ties to Spider-Man’s animated history, her mutant origins, and her relatively blank slate make her the kind of character Marvel could reshape without upsetting longtime fans and audiences of this industry.

But then again, when we think about the Secret Wars news, honestly, it kinda shifts our perspective about “what” character she might play. Suddenly, all of the theories widened into multiverse territory, where names like Gwen Stacy and Mayday Parker became serious possibilities. The character of Gwen brings a huge emotional weight, but with Spider-Verse still unfolding, the studios may be saving her for something bigger.

Mayday, on the other hand, brings a wild satisfaction after she is the daughter of Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker, crossing over into the MCU through the leftover No Way Home. It would complicate the grounded tone of Brand New Day for sure, but it also makes sense in a way we can’t possibly ignore.

The ongoing viral set photos added fuel by hinting at a street-level angle with Rachel Cole-Alves, the Punisher-connected marine whose look lines up eerily well with Sink’s costume. It’s believable for the movie, but almost too small for Secret Wars.

That’s why Kitty Pryde, strangely enough, emerges as the option that ties everything together. She fits Spider-Man’s world, she fits the X-Men’s future, she fits the multiverse, and she fits the long-term plan Marvel seems to be building. Whoever Sink ends up playing, this casting already feels like one of the MCU’s most important moves in years, and we cannot wait to see what we will witness.
