The former“Bachelorette” thanked her supporters after a Utah judge sided with her ex-boyfriend in the most recent child custody hearing. In an emotional post published via Instagram late Thursday night, Taylor Frankie Paul thanked her followers for helping her cope with what she calls “the lowest point of her life.” The statement comes following a court ruling on April 7 that gave Mortensen temporary custody of his 2-year-old son, Ever.
Dakota Mortensen gets temporary custody of son Ever in latest case
Commissioner Russell Minas ordered Mortensen to retain temporary primary custody of his son until the two return to court later this month. Paul was awarded eight hours per week of supervised visitation. These may be split up into smaller periods if needed until the next hearing, which is scheduled for April 30.
The issue arose as a result of the filing of a temporary protective order against Paul and Mortensen in 2024 and 2026 when allegations of DA were made between the two individuals. “My concerns go both ways,” the judge stated.
Mortensen retained custody, while a temporary restraining order against Paul was ordered as well. The two are forbidden from contacting each other until their next hearing and cannot come within 100 feet of each other.
Mortensen has been accused of pushing buttons in order to provoke a response, while Paul has her share of domestic incidents as well.
Soon after the hearing, Paul uploaded videos via TikTok and Instagram that document her emotions during this time period, which lasted 40 days. In the post, the mother uploaded several selfies and video clips, which, according to her, showed that she suffered from panic attacks and breakdowns.
“I am not perfect,” Paul stated. “I have owned my mistakes, but Dakota is an abusive individual who refuses to take responsibility.”
At the same time, the reality star claims she is maintaining faith throughout the case. Paul stated that she thanks God at the end of each day regardless of her feelings.
This case has had an effect on the career of Taylor Paul as well. In particular, the woman said her season on The Bachelorette is cancelled indefinitely, while filming The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will also be postponed.
