Shailene Woodley played Annie in Paradise Season 2, died in episode four, and has still been doing press for the show ever since. In one of those interviews, the topic of Jane Driscoll came up, and Woodley did not hold back. “I have very strong feelings about Jane,” she said. That is all she said. The fandom did not need her to elaborate.
Jane Is the Character Everyone Loves to Hate and Woodley Is Not the Exception
Jane Driscoll, played by Nicole Brydon Bloom, is a Secret Service agent on Xavier’s team in the bunker. The official character description calls her girl-next-door manner a disguise for the instincts that make her effective.
What that means in practice is that Jane schemes, manipulates, and survives while people around her do not.
She and Sinatra spend most of Season 2 making life harder for everyone who is just trying to get through the day with some basic decency. Annie was exactly that kind of person. The contrast between what Annie represented and what Jane represents is not subtle.
Woodley has spoken in multiple interviews about what drew her to Annie. A former medical student who survived alone at Graceland for two years, fell in love, got pregnant, and chose her baby’s life over her own when it came down to it.
“I think Annie was able to leave with a sense of peace,” she told Deadline. Playing that character and then watching Jane operate from inside the same show is not going to generate warm feelings.
The Season 2 finale aired March 30, 2026, and the full extent of Jane and Sinatra’s plotting is now out there. Season 3 is already confirmed. Hulu greenlit it on March 17 before the weekly run even finished, which is the clearest possible signal that Paradise is not going anywhere.
Whether Jane survives into Season 3 is still open. The finale left several threads unresolved deliberately, and Jane’s future is one of them.
Nicole Brydon Bloom has handled the character hate with grace in her own interviews. She has said that playing someone the audience is supposed to find unsettling is the job, and she is doing it well.
Woodley saying “I have very strong feelings about Jane” is, in some ways, the best review Bloom could receive. It means the character is working exactly the way Dan Fogelman intended.
Paradise Season 3 is in development. Annie is not in it. Jane, for now, is.
