The 2026 Actor Awards had its fair share of glitz and glam, but nothing beats Seth Rogen’s diss at the Writers’ Guild of America. The Freaks and Geeks star’s not-so-subtle roast at WGA was one of the highlights of the event, and here’s why.
Seth Rogen throws shade at Writers’ Guild of America
Seth Rogen bagged the Actor Awards for his outstanding performance as a male actor and as an ensemble in his comedy series The Studio. While receiving his award, Rogen made sure to pack a punch with his words.
The actor graciously accepted his award while critiquing the Writers’ Guild of America. He said, “You were able to pay your employees enough in order to keep the award show from getting canceled. Take notes, WGA.”
He commended SAG-AFTRA in reference to the ongoing writers’ strike by the Writers’ Guild of America’s union members. The WGA cancelled its award show in Los Angeles after its members went on a labor strike on February 19, demanding higher wages and safeguarding of creative freedom against artificial intelligence.
Aside from his shade on WGA, Rogen tearfully accepted the Posthumous Award for the legendary actress Catherine O’Hara, who starred with him in his comedy series The Studio. He paid an emotional tribute to the late actress, citing her iconic works and performances, namely, Beetlejuice, Best in Show, and so on.
O’ Hara died at the age of 71, leaving many fans and actors wrecked, including Rogan, and what better way to memorialize her than to have her co-star accept the posthumous award? The Studio is Catherine O’Hara’s last project before her death, which is why it holds so much relevance.
This was one of the many heartrending moments in the Actor Awards 2026, where Rogen made his presence known through his words and his creative force!
