Scream is one of the most iconic slasher films in the horror genre. The franchise released its seventh installment in February, but with massive cuts. It was not only the budget, but scenes were also omitted, and here’s what the director had to say on the matter.

Scream 7 Director on the omitted scene in the movie

Kevin Williamson, the screenwriter and director behind the Scream franchise, recently opened up about the omitted scenes. In an interview he did with Esquire, he said:

There was an entire sequence that I had to cut because of time and budget. It was huge, and it’ll be in ‘SCREAM 8.’ Actually, I don’t know. I’ll find a way to use it,” says Kevin Williamson.

It is confirmed that Williamson will use the chase scene in the eighth installment of the franchise. Fans also speculated that the scene might have involved Gale based on the information on the internet.

Budget cuts and scene omissions aren’t anything out of the ordinary. Most directors and productions cut out scenes due to massive budget cuts.

In this case, however, the chase scene would have added to the thrill and adrenaline element for most viewers. While some netizens seemed bummed out regarding the scene being cut out completely, others seemed to be fine with this entirely.

The entire idea of chasing and hiding is common and central to most horror movies. Scream is one such example that elevates the emotions of fear, excitement, and disgust at the same time.

Regardless of that, Scream 7 shines through at the box office in its own unique manner. The film features McKenna Grace, Isabel May, Mark Consuelo, and others in a fresh cast.

For die-hard fans, the movie is a treat in itself because Courtney Cox, Matthew Lillard, and Neve Campbell reprise their roles.

Scream 7 is centered on Sidney Prescott, one of the major characters from the original movie. She is faced with the perils of saving and protecting her family from the horrors and bloodshed when a new Ghostface reappears.

The movie will arrive digitally on Amazon on March 31, 2026.
