Ryan Gosling is a multiple Academy Award-nominated actor. However, there is one role that he played in the 2000s that fans keep reminding him of because of the character’s failure to perform his role diligently on a high school football team, in the cult classic sports drama Remember the Titans. On the New Heights podcast, hosted by the Kelce brothers, Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce, Gosling highlighted how the internet comment section mercilessly trolls him for that specific role.

Remember the Titans role follows Ryan Gosling like a shadow

Ryan Gosling had a wholesome banter with the Kelce brothers about his character, Alan Bosley, a high school cornerback in Remember the Titans. In the film, Gosling’s character struggles defensively to a point where he eventually loses his place to another member of the team, Petey Jones. The performance by Gosling later sparked the “liability at the corner” meme.

“Never forget I am a liability,” he said during the podcast, as Jason Kelce quickly picked up on the cue and commented, “That role, that particular scene in the movie, is the thing that I see called out the most.” He further asked, “How much do you get that?”

Gosling hilariously replied, “It doesn’t matter what I accomplish in my life; there will be someone in the comment section that says never forget he is an absolute liability at the corner.”

Much to the amusement of the NFL superstars, Gosling reiterated that he can’t seem to get over the running joke that appears to eclipse his otherwise illustrious career. As Jason waxed lyrical about the La La Land actor, calling him “one of the greatest actors of our generation” and a “three-time Academy Award nominee,” the actor interjected by stating that “it doesn’t matter” because he is a “liability at the corner.”

Then, Travis Kelce concluded the segment by saying, “Get Petey in there!”, referencing the moment when Alan Bosley is substituted for Petey Jones in the movie to cover for his defensive lapses.

Gosling and the Kelce brothers shared a light-hearted moment, reminiscing about the film that turned the actor into an internet meme. Safe to say, Gosling takes the jokes in his stride—and one thing that can surely be said is that he certainly isn’t a “liability” in the entertainment business.
