Robert Downey Jr’s bizarre gift to Chris Evans
Chris Evans was talking about the best original screenplay and reminisced about Frank Pierson’s Dog Days. It was at this moment that Robert Downey Jr. said he got him something, saying, “I got you the official Tanning Chatum t—- from Magic Mike sequined. It’s got like a mirror ball effect. Light usage”
Downey presented the sequined Magic Mike T—- hilariously to Evans, to which the latter responded, “I have no words.” Tatum’s response was pure gold when he yelled, “Aye. I’m gonna need that back though.” This had the audience laughing uncontrollably.
The entire conversation was funny, with Robert Downey Jr. mispronouncing Tatum’s name. This was the cherry on top, and immediately, the moment went viral on social media. It remained a highlight from the Oscars and even had most netizens cracking up.
What followed was a gag reel of sorts when Downey asked Tatum, “For what?” Tatum awkwardly responded, saying, “I got work later, man.”
Tatum played the role of Mike in the 2012 film Magic Mike, where he starred as an ST performer. Mike does odd jobs to make ends meet, be it construction or car detailing. By evening, he works as an ST and even mentors 19-year-old Adam, played by Alex Pettyfer.
Magic Mike is one of the most iconic comedy movies that stars Tatum. It also showcased the actor’s versatility and range. The fact that Evans and Downey roped in the thong reference is spot-on! Both Marvel actors are known for their friendship, which all started in 2010 when RDJ convinced Evans to take up the role of Captain America. It’s been almost 16 years since their friendship remained strong.
