At the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, Tarantino spoke about his play in front of a panel, saying, “If you’re wondering what I’m doing right now, I’m writing a play, and it’s going to be probably the next thing I end up doing.” He then added, “If it’s a fiasco I probably won’t turn it into a movie. But if it’s a smash hit? It might be my last movie.”

News reports recently revealed that while there are no casting announcements, there is a possibility that the play could star both new and established talent. It was revealed that Tarantino first let people know that he had written a play last year, and if it was successful, he might turn it into his 10th and final film.

The play is being produced by Sonia Friedman Productions and Sony Pictures Entertainment. IT play is currently in development. The planned premiere is scheduled for early 2027. Priority booking is available at the play’s website.

The plot is loosely based on a genre of swashbuckling stage productions and movies. According to promotional materials, it is a “rambunctious comedy of deception and disguise” in Tarantino’s style.

Tarantino is to direct the play. He is planning to relocate to England with his family. He is to spend 18-24 months working on the project.

Though Tarantino is new to stage productions, he has some experience working within a confined environment in The Hateful Eight.
