Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently made headlines as they showed up in person to attend a private “Tastemaker” event thrown by the co-CEO of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, and Nicole Avant, at their Montecito home. The warm and friendly appearance made by the couple was meant to deflect reports of the alleged fallout between Netflix and their Archewell Productions.
Sussexes join Netflix CEO to defuse rumors of fallout
As part of an effort to promote the second season of Beef, the Tastemaker event saw industry members come together in a relaxed environment. As per attendees, Harry and Meghan were seen warmly hugging Ted and exchanging pleasant conversation with him. Clearly, it seems that there is no strain between the couple and Netflix.
The appearance came after weeks of speculation following a report stating that Netflix was not satisfied with the pace of content creation from Archewell Productions. Both sides had been denying the claims prior to the event. This denial came from the couple’s lawyer, Michael J. Kump, and Netflix’s Bela Bajaria.
Aside from her appearance with husband Prince Harry, Meghan made headlines thanks to her choice of attire. The Duchess arrived wearing a chartreuse Heidi Merrick “Gale” gown that has emerged as a hot new trend for the spring season.
However, despite a change in how the partnership will be conducted from 2025 onwards, the Sussexes are still very much working with Netflix on multiple fronts.
Instead of being locked into one deal with Netflix, the Sussexes agreed to a flexible first-look partnership. However, several projects from the couple are still in the pipeline, including a second season of “With Love, Meghan” expected later in the year.
The documentary focusing on the U.S. Open Polo Championship and the feature-length version of Meet Me at the Lake are two other projects in development.
