Netflix acquires Ben Affleck’s AI Company

Almost a week back, Netflix opted out of the merger deal. It helped Paramount secure the win as a result. The streaming giant, however, has now acquired Ben Affleck’s company. Affleck released a statement saying, “I knew I had a responsibility to my peers and our industry to protect the power of human creativity and the people behind it. In creating InterPositive, I sought to do just that.

The actor also spoke about the thought process behind creating Interpositive. He said, “In 2022, I spent a lot of time observing the early rise of AI in production. As a filmmaker, I could see how these models came up short.” He also added that for the “artists to apply these tools towards telling the stories we dedicate our lives to. It is apparently a “purpose-built to represent and protect all the qualities that make a great story.

This statement was released by Netflix on its official website. The piece titled “Innovation for Filmmaking, by Filmmakers” shed light on Affleck and Netflix’s joint venture.

Affleck’s company, Interpositive, is reported to have built in tools to help protect creative intent. The actor stated that the AI filmmaking startup would help create tools that artists could use, control, and benefit from.

Earlier, Ben Affleck dismissed the panic surrounding AI intervention in Joe Rogan’s podcast. He reiterated the need to view AI as a tool that cannot essentially replace human creativity. The fear of people losing their jobs to AI is a rhetoric that stems from people’s need to “justify valuations.”
