The psychological thriller will centre around Sydney Sweeney as she takes on the role of a live-in maid once again, albeit for another wealthy family. The second installment of the series will be looking to replicate the success of the first film, which garnered around $400 million worldwide.

Reportedly, Kirsten Dunst will appear alongside Sweeney, though details about her role are being kept under wraps. Dunst was last seen in the 2025 true-crime drama Roofman opposite Channing Tatum.

“It is a privilege to bring The Housemaid’s next chapter to the screen with Kirsten Dunst,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Erin Westerman said, adding, “She is an icon. Her career reflects extraordinary range and fearlessness. Opposite the ever-magnetic Sydney Sweeney, she will be an electrifying force in a world where nothing is ever quite as it seems.”

As per the plot description for the sequel, Millie is hired as a maid by a woman she is never allowed to see. As the story unfolds, she uncovers the “truth behind a locked door,” revealing secrets far darker than her own mysterious past.

Apart from Sydney Sweeney, Michele Morrone is set to return as the groundskeeper Enzo. However, Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar, who played the wealthy couple who hired Millie in the first film, will not be returning, as the sequel shifts focus to a new family.

Paul Feig will return to direct the sequel, alongside screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine. The list of producers includes Sydney Sweeney, Todd Lieberman, Laura Fischer, and author Freida McFadden.

Carly Elter, who worked on the first film for Hidden Pictures, returns as an executive producer, with Alex Young also serving in the same capacity. Fifty-Fifty’s Kaylee McGregor will co-produce, while Chelsea Kujawa and Maria Ascanio are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
