Fresh from her stint in Riverdale, Lili Reinhart is taking on a completely new role in The Love Hypothesis, and she is not shying away from admitting just how hard this role has been.

A Role That Feels “Vastly Different”

Reinhart recently opened up about her role as Olive Smith, which is far from her real-life personality.

“She’s such a golden retriever of a human being, and I’m not. Not in a bad way; that’s just not who I am,” Reinhart explained. “So, it’s a challenge to play someone who’s bubbly and energetic because that’s not me. So, it’s just always doing something different outside myself.”

It is a candid admission from the actress that points to just how far she has had to stretch to get into her role. Reinhart is known for her more subdued and emotionally charged acting roles, but the role of Olive is far from that, as the character is more energetic and full of life.

This space has become a constant exercise in performance, as much as acting out the script as trying to portray an entirely different energy. Taking on The Love Hypothesis is also a strategic move for Reinhart. She is trying to prove to the world that she can carry a romantic comedy.

Directed by Claire Scanlon, the movie has already wrapped filming and is now in post-production, with a late 2026 release expected on Prime Video. Reinhart stars opposite Tom Bateman, with a supporting cast that includes Jaboukie Young-White, Rachel Marsh, and Arty Froushan.

This film, however, is not just another film for Lili Pauline Reinhart. It is a chance for her to prove to the world that she is more than one type of performer. Coming from dark roles into something bright and character-driven romance is a strategic move.

From her own words, however, this film is far from easy for her. That, however, is exactly the point.
