Lady Gaga just made her presence in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which is simply impossible to ignore, and she brought a collaborator that none of us saw coming.

Lady Gaga teams up with for original song “Runway”

The final trailer for the sequel dropped on April 6, and nestled right in the middle of it was a first listen to “Runway,” an original track recorded by Gaga and Grammy-winning rapper Doechii specifically for the film.

The upbeat, dance-driven anthem plays over footage of Andy Sachs navigating her return to the fashion world, and it has already sent the internet into a very enthusiastic spiral. Fans have been drawing comparisons to Madonna’s “Vogue,” which is either the most fitting or most ambitious bar to be measured against, depending on who you ask.

Gaga’s involvement in the film had been confirmed for some time. She shot her scenes during her Mayhem Ball Tour last year, though her specific role has not been officially detailed by the studio.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 marks her first big-screen appearance since Joker: Folie à Deux, and given how that film landed, the bar for a comeback moment was set fairly high. A glamorous fashion sequel with an original song alongside one of music’s current names feels like exactly the right reentry point.

As for the trailer itself, it reveals more of the plot than fans had previously seen. Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs has returned to Runway as its new features editor, telling a new assistant played by Simone Ashley,

I used to have your job. Got to go to Paris Fashion Week, wore a bunch of pieces from the Chanel collection that year.

Emily Blunt’s Emily, now a high-powered luxury executive, holds the advertising money that Miranda Priestly desperately needs to keep Runway afloat in a dying print landscape, setting up a dynamic where the power has very noticeably shifted.

Meryl Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, and Stanley Tucci all return, with Justin Theroux and Kenneth Branagh joining as new additions.

The film is directed by David Frankel, who helmed the original, from a screenplay by Aline Brosh McKenna. Character posters for the original four were also released alongside the trailer, and they are exactly as glamorous as they need to be.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1, 2026.
