Khloé recalls relapse after 2015 overdose became the last straw

Odom has a long history of substance abuse, starting when he was a teenager who began smoking m——– following the death of his mother. Thereafter, his addiction escalated to hard d—-, which persisted throughout his NBA career and post-retirement. He married Khloé Kardashian in 2009, and his addictive behavior steadily became an issue in their relationship, with the television personality trying to help him through multiple rehab attempts and addiction crises before the 2015 incident.

However, Odom’s return to c—- use in a house that Kardashian rented with a full-time caretaker and nurses following his 2015 hospitalization for d— overdose became the final straw that ended the relationship once and for all. “Once you know the smell of c—-, it’s the most identifiable, disgusting smell. And there is nothing that you can confuse it with. I remember stopping by the house, and I smelled c—-. I remember slowly tiptoeing up the stairs. He was in his bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed, and smoking c—-. And I just punched him in his face,” she recalled in the documentary.

“I’ve just put my life on hold to f—– take care of you. How did you get this? You don’t have a f——- phone. You can’t talk,” she further said. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum then noted that she was being “played” so that he could continue his addictive behavior.

Following the incident, she asked him to leave the house and shortly after filed for divorce for the second time. Previously, she filed for divorce in 2013 following Odom’s substance abuse issues and other marital problems, but called it off following his near-fatal overdose to support his recovery. However, in 2016, she refiled, and the divorce was finalized.

The feature-length documentary was released on March 31, 2026, and is currently streaming on Netflix.
