Jim Carrey’s latest appearance at the César Awards is making waves on the internet. It stirred controversy and claims regarding the actor being possibly cloned. While this was speculated by several netizens, Carrey’s publicist refuted these rumors as of late. Known for his iconic roles in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Carrey accepted his Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award at the César Awards.

Jim Carrey’s publicist quashes ‘cloning’ rumors

Jim Carrey, known for his slapstick comedy and surreal humor, recently appeared at the Cesar Awards in Paris. Fans linked his photos to cloning after noticing a drastic change in his appearance, even linking it to several conspiracy theories. However, fans noticed the difference in his eye color, stating that Carrey’s original eyes are brown and not blue. This started a chain of speculations and fan theories, but that’s not all.

The photos taken by Stone were digitally altered using AI, but it is interesting what Carrey’s publicist had to say about these rumors. In an interview with TMZ, Marleah Leslie revealed it was indeed Jim Carrey who attended these awards. She said, “Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award.”

Alexis Stone, a British drag artist, further fueled this controversy by claiming that it was he who impersonated The Mask actor. Stone is a transformative makeup artist who has previously impersonated Anjelica Huston, Madonna, and several prominent Hollywood celebrities. His impersonations are considered eerily uncanny yet accurate.

On his Instagram account, he posted a photo of a latex mask and fake teeth following the row. The claims, however, were deemed invalid by USA Today.

After Leslie’s statement, Cesar Awards dismissed the claims and added that Jim Carrey even worked on his French speech for months before attending the event.

The cloning controversy, however, isn’t new, and actors are no strangers to this by any means. This came when most Hollywood celebrities were being linked to these speculations. Earlier, several claims were also made regarding Selena Gomez and Kanye West regarding their altered appearance, but they quashed these rumors.
