Can The Boys defeat Homelander once and for all? The final season of the beloved anti-hero drama The Boys is dropping on Amazon Prime Video on April 8, 2026, and fans can’t keep calm. The die-hard fans can also look forward to the reunion of the iconic trio of the hit series Supernatural, with Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy in the dark comedy superhero drama, talking about what it was like reuniting with familiar faces from the long-running show.
‘Supernatural’ reunion was “outrageous”, says Ackles
It wasn’t that long ago that fans couldn’t wait for another season of the two brothers—Sam Winchester and Dean Winchester, played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, respectively—hunting supernatural creatures across the United States. Now, the show’s creator, Eric Kripke, is set to recreate that dynamic once again for the fifth and final season of The Boys.
Reportedly, Padalecki will join the cast for the final season, though his role remains under wraps, with some describing his character as “morally dubious.”
Meanwhile, Misha Collins, who played Castiel in Supernatural, is also part of the upcoming season. Details about his character are similarly being kept secret. In an interview with Decider, Ackles opened up about the much-anticipated reunion.
“We had a great time… it was disgusting… it was outrageous,” he said.
He further noted that certain shooting days caught him and his former Supernatural co-stars off guard. However, given Kripke’s tendency to push boundaries, they quickly adjusted to the show’s trademark shock value.
“I think there were multiple days where we looked at each other and were like, ‘What are we doing?’ But we are all used to Kripke’s universes, so it wasn’t as shocking,” he added.
The fifth season commences following the events of Season 4, where Homelander’s increasing political and social power prompts Starlight to establish a resistance movement opposing him. Amid the Boys’ disarray, Billy Butcher reappears with a plan to deploy a virus capable of eliminating all Supes.
Two episodes of the season will premiere on the same day, followed by weekly releases.
