The idea of blending real-time news into storytelling is quite fascinating and interesting. That’s exactly what The Morning Show does with its unique mash of comedy and drama. The show is all prepped up for its fifth season, and Jennifer Aniston is here to spill the beans.
Jennifer Aniston spills the beans on The Morning Show
Jennifer Aniston spoke to Variety about Season 5. She said, “We start [filming] next week, by the way. It’s as exciting as it is in real time — you just never know what you’re going to wake up to. There’s definitely always changes [to the script] because, as you know, the news cycle is different every five seconds, let alone five days.“
The entire process of juxtaposing news with fiction is tedious yet meticulous. It is ever-changing, and the entire journey isn’t linear. There will be changes in production and storyline, which is also something the actress addressed.
“So it’s definitely always in motion. It’s really wild to be part of a show that you can’t turn off. The news—there’s no break, no mental checkout. But it’s going to be good; that I can guarantee you.”
The Morning Show premiered in 2019 and focused on Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson. Both are hosts at the UBA network, a fictional media house that covers real-time happenings. So while it is all fictional, the show is based on the events happening in real-time.
Reese Witherspoon plays the role of Bradley Jackson, while Jennifer Aniston plays the role of Alex Levy. The inspiration behind the entire show is Brian Stelter’s non-fiction book ‘Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.’
Earlier, Kerry Ehrin stepped down in order to focus on her projects with Apple TV after acting as a showrunner for the first two seasons. Charlotte Stoudt, then, stepped in as the current producer and the showrunner for the 3rd, 4th, and the upcoming 5th seasons.
The 5th season is currently in the process of being filmed. It is scheduled for release in 2027.
