Jacob Tierney gears up for Heated Rivalry Season 2

In his recent interview with Variety, Jacob Tierney opened up about Season 2’s update. He said, “I’m in a room all day writing.” He also mentioned that the filming for Season 2 will begin this summer and that they’re “on track.” Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams will return to the series for their roles of Ilya and Shane, respectively.

Moreover, the second season is slated for release in spring 2027, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. It will be true to the source material this time, as Tierney reassured me. Previously, fans expressed their disappointment regarding the series. They claimed the director strayed significantly from the text. Some scenes were missing, but the series still captured the essence of the book.

To give context, the series is based on Rachel Reid’s novel Game Changers and will primarily adapt “The Long Game,” the sixth book in the series. It is focused on Ilya and Shane’s long-term, secret, and intense romance. Both are ice hockey players from rival teams, yet they break free from the conventional notions.

The intensity and chemistry are laid out brilliantly by the lead actors. Tierney also reiterates the slow-burning nature of the romance between Ilya and Shane, which makes the series all the more alluring. It is no wonder that this sports drama has garnered its cherished fanbase.

On the playground, both characters are fierce rivals; behind the scenes, they share a passionate, intense affair. By the end of the first season, both Shane and Ilya break the news to their parents.

The first season was such a breakout hit that Netflix actually just signed Tierney to adapt a new series called Alexander (based on The Golden Mean). However, he has reassured fans that Heated Rivalry remains his priority for the immediate future.

Season 2 will likely focus on Ilya’s and Shane’s relationship amidst their sports careers. The growing responsibilities and the need to keep their relationship secret are recurring themes in the series.

Heated Rivals is a top-rated series with an 8.8/10 IMDb rating and a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score. It is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
