IShowSpeed is one of the celebrated streamers out there. He is also one of the highest-paid streamers known for his love for video games, sports, and most importantly, anime. His love for One Piece knows no bounds, and as of now, he’s getting his own anime, so let’s unpack this!
IShowSpeed aims high with his new anime role
For IShowSpeed, the sky is the limit as the streamer is finally getting his own anime. He will voice one of the lead characters in an upcoming anime spearheaded by Matt Owens.
Owens is the former showrunner of the acclaimed One Piece live-action series on Netflix starring Inaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Gibson, and Taz Skylar. It is based on Eiichiro Oda’s bestselling manga of the same name.
Time and time again, IShowSpeed has proclaimed his love for anime. He lists One Piece as one of his favorite anime and has even sported a Joyboy hoodie on many occasions. He cosplayed as Luffy in the Gear 5 form, and not to mention, the streamer even ordered a custom-made Luffy pendant from Chiefer, a luxury jewelry boutique in London.
Well, the things we do for love, as one said! His love for anime is unparalleled, especially since he listed his favorite anime. It had all the peak shows, including Naruto, Erased, Kingdom, and Black Clover, back in an interview with GQ.
He was also asked whether he would love to lend his voice to an anime, to which he said, “ Oh yeah, I would love to do that, hell yeah. Hopefully one day, probably in the works already, who knows?”
As for the upcoming anime project, Brian Robbins will be at the helm of the anime. He is the showrunner behind popular TV series like Smallville, One Tree Hill, and so on. Robbins was also the CEO of Paramount Pictures.
Both Owens and Robbins would bring expertise and finesse to the table. The anime will be done under the banner of Big Shot Pictures, which recently acquired the rights to Eloise at the Plaza.
It is unknown when IShowSpeed’s anime will be slated for release, but most fans are looking forward to it!
