In honor of One Piece surpassing the incredible milestone of 600 million copies in circulation, its creator, Eiichiro Oda, didn’t simply release a thank-you note, but rather kicked off what fans are calling a “Great Pirate Era” in real life.

Ishowspeed reacts to Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece ocean stunt

On March 3, 2026, Oda revealed that a box containing the “ending” of the series had been submerged a staggering 651 meters into the ocean. Immediately, fans and internet personalities went into detective mode, trying to figure out where the treasure might be located.

One of the loudest voices joining in on the chaos is that of IShowSpeed, a popular internet personality and streamer. In a chaotic livestream on March 4, Speed reacted to Oda’s announcement in his signature energetic style. After screaming at his chat in a fit of excitement, Speed exclaimed that he might actually attempt to retrieve the box himself.

As Speed explained, the plan would be to rent a boat or possibly a submarine and go on a hunt for the “Chad that’s the One Piece! We gotta go! I gotta go! I gotta find the One Piece, bro!” The situation quickly devolved into comedic levels of confusion, with Speed debating with his chat on where in the ocean the box might be located, shouting, “Pacific Ocean? Atlantic Ocean? Chad, which ocean?!” At one point, he joked that it would be legendary if he accidentally spoiled the ending of the entire series for the world.

Of course, it did not take fans too long to realize a major problem with this: reaching a depth of 651 meters is not exactly something a normal boat can accomplish. This kind of dive is only possible with professional research submersibles such as Japan’s Shinkai 6500.

And speaking of which, the hunt has already begun online. There are already groups of “One Piece geoguessers” out there analyzing Oda’s announcement video. Using such clues as the direction of sunset and Oda’s association with JAMSTEC, it has been theorized that the location of the treasure chest could be somewhere near Suruga Bay, not too far from Tokyo.

And even if a person manages to get their hands on the treasure chest, Oda has already supposedly planned an anti-spoiler measure: it only contains half of the information, and the other half has already been published separately in newspapers. In other words, the actual ending could still be a mystery until the final chapter of the manga.
