HBO Boss addresses Colin Farrell’s status in Penguin S2
HBO Boss Casey Bloys spoke to Variety about Harry Potter and current production projects. When asked whether Colin Farrell would return to Penguin’s second season, he expressed an air of uncertainty.
“Colin is going to be in the [‘The Batman: Part II’] movie. He’s got other movies going on. [..] I would say it’s certainly complicated, but something everybody involved would like to figure out. I just don’t know.”
So far, there has been no news about a possible second season. The first one did exceptionally well with an IMDb rating of 8.6/10 and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%. The mini-series is a spinoff of the 2022 film Batman.
It is set in the fictional town of Gotham, where Oz Cobb, played by Farrell, is at the helm of the crime world. He is all set to carve his name in the crime scene and come out at the top. The character goes by the alias The Penguin after Carmine Falcon is unalived by the Riddler.
Farrell’s performance in the miniseries was met with positive reception and reviews. The audience hailed his acting, especially the intricacies he underlined through his role. While there have been rumors of a possible second season, The Penguin was produced as a limited series. Bloys also noted the uncertainty regarding the future of The Penguin as of now. It’s up in the air, but there’s also good news for fans.
Farrell will star in The Batman Part II, which is scheduled for release on 1st October 2027. He will reprise his role as Oz Cobb in the upcoming movie, which will be “deeper, scarier, and will have higher stakes,” as revealed in an interview by The Hollywood Reporter.
