Why? Because it mirrors where these characters would realistically be if they had gone off to college and come back carrying their own scars, fears, and ambitions.

Recently, the creator Levinson revealed that the new trajectories that define the season’s central tension are (obviously) starting with Rue. Zendaya’s character is now at the south of the border in Mexico, drowning in debt to Laurie and scrambling for increasingly desperate ways to pay it off.
Her struggle is said to form the backbone of a story that seems darker and more unpredictable than anything the series has attempted so far. But at the same time, we will also get to see some interesting developments with all the characters that honestly made our minds blow once revealed.
He basically gave us major spoilers by revealing that in this timeline, Cassie and Nate have fully leaned into the suburban fantasy and are living together, engaged, and appearing for once stable. They are apparently building a life that looks perfect only from the outside, because apparently, Cassie’s obsession with social media and her fixation on the curated success of her former classmates keep her spiraling under the surface.
Levinson didn’t hesitate to confirm that their wedding actually happens and promised that the night will be unforgettable in ways we won’t see coming.
Season 3 welcomes big names and bigger twists
And at the same time, somewhere else, we will get to see Jules heading to an art school, who is terrified of failure and commitment as she tries to make it as a painter. Our favorite vintage-loving phenomenon, Maddy is carving a place for herself in the industry of Hollywood, working at a talent agency while juggling side hustles that keep her just close enough to the glamorous world she always craved.
And finally, Lexi is said to have taken a behind-the-scenes route and is working as an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone, a casting masterstroke and choice Levinson described with obvious affection.
Season 3 also expands with an eclectic lineup of new cast members, from Rosalía and Natasha Lyonne to Eli Roth and Marshawn Lynch. But of course. Some familiar faces are absent, such as Austin Abrams, Algee Smith, Storm Reid’s Gia, and, heartbreakingly, the late Angus Cloud’s Fezco.
