Elizabeth Olsen plays Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She first appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron and later became one of the most powerful characters in the MCU. With Avengers: Doomsday set to release in December this year, the early trailers do not feature her. In a recent interview, she addressed whether she will be part of the multiverse chaos in the upcoming Avengers movies.
Elizabeth Olsen says she would like to be of service to the upcoming Avengers story arc
In the recently released trailers of Avengers: Doomsday, various MCU heroes like Thor, Shuri, Captain America (Sam Wilson), Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and several X-Men characters, alongside the Fantastic Four, make an appearance. However, Marvel is notoriously secretive, and even major actors don’t get scripts early in order to build suspense. Furthermore, stars are often expected to downplay their involvement unless the studio makes an official announcement.
Discussing her involvement in the upcoming Avengers movies, Doomsday and Secret Wars, she kept things cryptic. “I know nothing about any of it. I have offered up things I’d like to do. [I’d] like to be of service to a story,” Olsen said.
Olsen’s character in the MCU last appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where her fate remained uncertain following the collapse of Mount Wundagore. In Marvel Comics, Scarlet Witch is deeply tied to multiversal chaos. Furthermore, if Marvel explores stories involving multiversal resets, Wanda’s reality-altering powers are too important to ignore.
At this point, Elizabeth Olsen’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday cannot be confirmed or denied. She is also not part of the officially announced ensemble cast by Marvel. However, reports suggest that only part of the lineup has been revealed, with more names expected to be announced later.
Even if Scarlet Witch does not feature in Avengers: Doomsday, fans can still hope for her return in Avengers: Secret Wars. Judging by her recent comments, it is clear that she does not want a forced cameo and would prefer a meaningful return.
