The One Piece anime is returning to screens after its 3-month hiatus. The series’s last featured the Egghead Arc and dropped major reveals on what’s to come. The newly released trailer shows Loki, one of the major antagonists of the upcoming Elbaph arc, and here’s what Eiichiro Oda, the author, had to say on that!

Eiichiro Oda on wanting to cast Gojo’s voice actor

One Piece’s official YouTube channel released a trailer for the Elbaph Arc. It features one of the major antagonists, Loki, in the teaser, but what stood out was the voice actor Yuichi Nakamura. Nakamura has voiced major roles in the anime industry, with the prominent one being Satoru Gojo. Oda himself praised the voice actor and explained his choice for Loki’s VA, saying:

“I personally called him and told Toei that I wanted him to be the Voice for Loki; Gojo represents The Strongest, and that’s what I want to do with Loki, the new generation always surpass the old one.”

Oda handpicked the casting for the live-action, and it was spot-on. Fans can rest assured that his choice for the voice actor is nothing short of apt. Nakamura brings out the deviousness and mischievous nature of Loki’s character brilliantly in the trailer.

From what we have seen so far, the One Piece anime concluded the Egghead Arc with Episode 1155. Garp and Aokiji had a face-off where, ultimately, the Vice Admiral was taken captive by the Blackbeard Pirates.

Emet, the ancient robot, sacrificed himself to save Luffy and the other Straw Hats from the Gorosei. This was what aided the Pirates’ narrow escape from the World Government’s clutches. They sail away, with their next destination being Elbaf.

Elbaf, as we all know, was first introduced in the Little Garden Arc when Dorry and Brogy appear in front of the Straw Hats. It was their first encounter with the giants. It would be nothing short of magnificent to see it animated as the arc is filled with major plot twists, reveals, and transformations.

The One Piece Elbaf Arc is scheduled to release on 5th April and will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
