Muad’Dib is back. Yes, Frank Herbert‘s classic science fiction series is continuing its adaptation under Denis Villeneuve with a third installment. The first two Dune films covered the original novel, and now the third installment is likely to follow the Dune Messiah storyline. Nevertheless, the Part Three posters are out, and the first-look reveal has sent fans into a tizzy.

‘Dune: Part 3’ posters generate immense intrigue

The newly revealed character posters spotlight returning cast members like Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides (Muad’Dib), Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, and Javier Bardem as Stilgar.

The supporting cast also remains largely the same, with Josh Brolin returning as Gurney Halleck, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot Fenring.

Robert Pattinson is a new addition to the cast of the film, and if reports are to be believed, he will be playing the shape-shifting Scytale, the main antagonist from the novel.

Paul Atreides’ poster stands out the most among the lot, as he appears to have shed his youthful charm, taking on a more hardened, imperial, and isolated presence. He also seems more burdened by his prescient visions, reflecting a much darker tone than in the previous films.

Meanwhile, Chani still looks grounded and rooted in her Fremen identity and is expected to serve as Paul’s emotional anchor and romantic interest in the upcoming installment.

On the other hand, Princess Irulan leans into her royal and composed presence; her marriage to Paul is nothing more than a political arrangement, and her tensions with Chani are expected to continue in the next film. Furthermore, she is likely to play a crucial role in political maneuvering and palace intrigue.

The character of Alia Atreides is set to assume a much bigger role, with her Bene Gesserit abilities making her a powerful and dangerous figure, now portrayed as a fully developed young woman.

The posters also highlight other Fremen figures, who appear to have transitioned into agents of the jihad in the holy war carried out in Paul Atreides’ name.

Meanwhile, the familiar figures from the Bene Gesserit sisterhood will be involved in their ongoing schemes to maintain the purity of their carefully controlled bloodline.

Dune: Part Three is expected to take place years after the events of Dune: Part Two, where Paul Atreides’ rise as the Emperor of the Known Universe triggers a galaxy-wide holy war. He is no longer a celebrated hero but a ruler troubled by dissent and conspirators within his regime, hellbent on bringing him down.

In the conclusion of the last film, Paul Atreides seizes the throne after defeating Feyd-Rautha and forcing Emperor Shaddam IV to abdicate, agreeing to a political marriage with Princess Irulan. The latest installment is expected to follow the Dune Messiah storyline, where Paul Atreides—the Kwisatz Haderach—grapples with the consequences of his actions.
