Disney issues update on Wonder Man Season 2 cast

Marvel Studios officially confirmed Wonder Man’s season 2 on their X account. It showed a photo of a document with the studio’s logo, and at the bottom, there was the Disney+ logo. Season 2 is highlighted in yellow, and it’s got fans all hyped up.

Yahya Abdul Mateen II will reprise his role as Simon Williams. Ben Kingsley will also return for his role as Trevor Slattery. It will be phenomenal as some fans pointed out, but here’s the thing.

Most fans didn’t expect the show to be slated for a second season. The producers also didn’t have plans initially to work on Season 2. It was estimated to be a limited series; however, this update was crucial in understanding the series’ viewership.

Wonder Man’s first season explored the dynamic between Trevor and Simon. It follows the journey of Simon, who wants to make it big as an actor in the film industry set in the MCU. He, along with other superpowered individuals, is barred from participating.

This is due to the Doorman Clause, which bans empowered individuals after Doorman, a hero with teleportation abilities, accidentally trapped Josh Gad during one of the scenes. It inadvertently affected people with abilities who wanted to work as actors.

For Wonder Man, Destin Daniel Cretton stepped away from ironclad superhero tropes. This made the series less action-heavy and more character-oriented as he revealed in an interview with Nerds of Color.

“When you strip away the action scenes, you have to lean on character, and real scene creation and storytelling, which Andrew and his writers really embraced. And it allowed us to go to different places you may not usually go to in the superhero genre, which was really exciting for me,” the director said.

Both Cretton and Andrew Guest will return as showrunners for Season 2, which will premiere on Disney+.
