Foggy Nelson served as an emotional anchor to Daredevil’s character in Marvel’s TV series. Unfortunately, the character faced a tragic death at the hands of Bullseye, ordered by Vanessa Fisk. Now, Charlie Cox has shared his take on how to bring back the beloved character.

Cox floats the idea of resurrection

The Daredevil actor feels that Nelson’s story arc shouldn’t end with his death, which happened in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. He suggested that there are ways the Marvel Cinematic Universe can bring him back. Although season 2 confirms a return for Nelson, it might be in the form of flashbacks or maybe even a fake death. But nothing can be guaranteed right at this moment.

Amidst speculation about the return of Nelson in the upcoming season, Cox jokingly stated that Foggy could be brought back to life through mystical means at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) panel discussion. He also noted that the secretive ninja organization, the Hand, could play a part in it.

“I think Foggy should be resurrected by Elektra, and then he takes over leadership of the Hand,” Cox joked. Notably, Elektra has died and been brought back to life multiple times in Marvel stories. Her links to the Hand can be leveraged for the character’s revival.

Furthermore, Elektra’s past romantic entanglement with Matt Murdock could bring an interesting angle into the story. It must be noted that this is Cox’s personal pitch, and Marvel hasn’t yet announced any resurrection arc for Foggy or Elektra’s return in the MCU in that context. Although a Hand-centric storyline seems interesting, based on current developments, the studio is unlikely to pursue that angle anytime soon.

Foggy Nelson’s death was a deeply emotional moment for Murdock, leaving him grief-stricken. He becomes more aggressive and ruthless as Daredevil, pushing the boundaries of his moral compass, as he appears less grounded. It serves as an important tonal shift for the series, as he transforms from a conflicted hero trying to balance law and justice into someone less restrained, operating from a more emotional center.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how Murdock fills the void left by his long-time college friend and law partner. Whether Marvel chooses to explore this path or not, Foggy’s role remains central to Matt Murdock’s journey.
