Karen Page had a limited presence in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, and fans noticed. Charlie Cox has now made it clear that Season 2 is fixing that in a big way, with a version of the character that goes further than anything seen before.

Cox says Karen is a completely different force in Season 2

Cox has been candid about what fans can expect from Deborah Ann Woll’s return. Speaking about her expanded role, he described the new Karen as “a badass in a way that she has never been before,” adding that “she’s been training; she’s undercover, she has to be able to fend for herself at times, and she’s doing incredibly dangerous, vital work.

He also told the press that “some of the stuff she’s up to is some of the coolest stuff she’s ever had,” a statement he stretched to cover her entire run across 39 episodes of the original Netflix series. His reaction to her bigger presence this season was simple: “Thank God.

Showrunner Dario Scardapane echoed that sentiment, saying the version of Karen in Season 2 is “a curveball that you haven’t seen before,” and crediting Woll herself for shaping much of the character’s direction. Woll was brought into conversations early, contributing to the writers’ room before the season’s storylines were fully locked in. Scardapane also made it clear that, in his view, Karen has never been a sidekick, describing her as someone who mirrors and pushes Murdock rather than simply supporting him.

Season 1 kept Karen on the sidelines for much of its run. She appeared briefly in the premiere, returned in the finale to help Matt uncover evidence against Fisk, and spent most of the season living in San Francisco following Foggy Nelson’s death.

Season 2 corrects that significantly, placing her at the center of the action as Matt and his allies work to dismantle Mayor Fisk’s grip on New York City.

Cox also painted a vivid picture of the world they are operating in this season. New York under Fisk’s control is described as suffocating, with residents too frightened to speak out or be seen in public.

He compared the atmosphere to a French Resistance scenario, with Daredevil and his circle operating in the shadows against a corrupt administration backed by the full force of law enforcement.

Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2, premieres on March 24 on Disney+.
