Following the much-publicized Britney Spears controversy, the 2002 movie Crossroads actor and pop singer, whose conservatorship was terminated in 2021, had largely stayed out of trouble. However, this year, she grabbed headlines again in early March after being stopped for erratic, high-speed driving on a highway while allegedly intoxicated. Now, the pop icon is reportedly checking herself into rehab again.

Spears is voluntarily signing up for rehabilitation

According to Variety, after being arrested on a DUI charge last month, Britney Spears will begin treatment at a rehabilitation facility. The California Highway Patrol handcuffed Spears for her alleged actions on March 5, and she was charged the following day. Authorities claimed that she showed signs of impairment, allegedly involving both a—— and d—-.

Spears was released hours after being booked. The Toxic hitmaker is set to appear in court on May 4. A representative for Spears stated that her behavior was completely “inexcusable” and that she will be seeking “support” during “this difficult time.”

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” a statement put out by her representative read.

“Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” it further stated.

According to media reports, her inner circle supports the move, viewing it as a major turning point in her life.

Recently, Spears sold her song catalog to Primary Wave, and she stated previously that she will “never perform in the U.S. again” due to “extremely sensitive reasons” in a now-deleted Instagram post.

The singer released her last album, Glory, in 2016, and her last live performance in the U.S. was in 2018 as part of her Piece of Me tour at the Formula Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. It must be noted that the 44-year-old singer has a long history of mental health struggles, and this will not be the first time she has entered rehab.
