The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer is out, and the fans are excited about the new villains that the friendly neighborhood superhero will face. However, a certain section of the fans complained about the trailer’s supposedly poor CGI, which prompted the representative of the VFX department of the film to respond. The film will release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
The film will look “great,” says VFX supervisor
The official trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day was released on March 18, 2026, and fans were excited to see that The Punisher and Scorpion will be part of Brand New Day‘s storyline. The story will pick up from Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s conclusion, where Doctor Strange’s spell wiped Peter Parker’s existence from everyone’s memory, and he has to start life from scratch. Meanwhile, the webslinger will be dealing with his own perils as a “mutation” affects his superpowers, as he faces dangerous street-level criminals and vigilantes.
Although the narrative buildup has generated anticipation among fans, some found the trailer lacking in the CGI department. Some even compared it to earlier Spider-Man movies, claiming those looked better than the trailer for the latest Tom Holland starrer.
Now, a viral post that is being circulated on X speaks about the VFX supervisor Daniel Anton Fernandes addressing fans’ backlash, stating that the trailer was made in a rush and that the final cut will look much better than what fans saw. “Keep in mind this was a trailer rush! We are killing ourselves to deliver the best-looking Spidey film!” he said.
Notably, it is common for Marvel trailers to feature unfinished VFX, as studios continue to polish CGI right up until a film’s release.
The trailer also confirms that Hulk/Bruce Banner will be part of the film, with Mark Ruffalo set to reprise the role. Furthermore, Jon Bernthal will join the franchise as the Punisher, while Marvin Jones III will play Tombstone. Meanwhile, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, and Liza Colón-Zayas are part of the cast, although their roles remain undisclosed.
