The long, drawn-out court battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is showing no signs of slowing down. Recently, Baldoni sought the dismissal of the $160+ million lawsuit, but Lively appears unwilling to back down. Here is the latest development in the high-profile Hollywood litigation case.

Bad blood between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively continues…

The story of allegations and counter-allegations, as well as lawsuits and countersuits, continues for Baldoni and Blake Lively. It seems that Baldoni’s November 2025 attempt to dismiss Lively’s lawsuit against him has been met with a response by Lively’s team, who cited a recent federal appeals court ruling to argue that her lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star and director should not be dismissed.

Lively, along with her legal representation, filed a letter on Thursday, March 12, citing the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit’s previous decision, which held that the complaint’s wording should not be grounds for dismissal, as evidence has already been gathered.

Lively’s legal team argued that dismissing her case at this point “would hardly serve the efficient or just resolution of disputes” if evidence gathered can support her allegations, the letter read.

The entire fiasco began when Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department against Baldoni, claiming that Baldoni created a hostile work environment on the set of It Ends With Us. Furthermore, the actress filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of SH and organizing a campaign to damage her credibility, seeking more than $160 million in damages.

Justin Baldoni strongly denied Lively’s claims and filed a $400 million countersuit in January 2025, accusing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist of defamation, extortion, and invasion of privacy. He claimed that the accused spearheaded a coordinated effort to damage his reputation. However, in June 2025, a federal judge dismissed Baldoni’s countersuit, ruling that Lively’s statements were protected by the legal complaint.

Now it seems that his November 2025 lawsuit seeking dismissal of Lively’s lawsuit on the grounds that it “cannot prove any actionable SH,” as per court documents, may not move forward as he had hoped. The troubles are only mounting for Baldoni, as his lawyer, Bryan Freedman, had earlier stated that settlement talks were “unsuccessful.” Now, it remains to be seen how the court will proceed with Lively’s latest filing.
