Paul Skenes was traveling across the US for the World Baseball Classic, which recently concluded. Playing as a pitcher for Team USA, he and his team reached the finals of the tournament. However, an athlete’s life is quite hectic, with much of their time spent with teammates rather than at home with family. In Skenes’ case, it is no different, and the situation was referenced in a sarcastic remark by his girlfriend and former LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne.
Is Livvy Dunne being playfully jealous?
On Instagram, Skenes shared a picture of himself with a couple of his teammates on the team bus. Sitting beside him was Team USA shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. “Me and some friends off to work,” he captioned the photo.
Responding to the picture posted by the ace pitcher, Dunne hilariously replied that she was now “replaced” by Bobby, implying that the young MLB star was spending more time with his teammate than with her.
“Let’s face it, I’ve been replaced by Bobby,” she commented on the post, garnering close to 17,000 likes on Instagram.
Nevertheless, the couple is going strong, although long periods of separation due to professional commitments can be tough on the personal front.
The two first met at LSU, when they were student-athletes representing the university. In 2023, they started dating during their time in Baton Rouge, and as their relationship evolved over time, they went public on social media.
Paul Skenes was one of Team USA’s standout performers in the World Baseball Classic. The young pitcher made a significant impact from his very first game, in which he dominated Mexico by striking out seven batters in four scoreless innings.
In the semifinal match against the Dominican Republic, Skenes once again came out on top, allowing just one run in 4.1 innings. Throughout the tournament, Skenes displayed excellent control and poise, ending the competition with a 1.08 ERA.
Team USA faced Venezuela in the final, ultimately losing 3–2 in a closely contested game. Even in defeat, Skenes can now look forward to a happy reunion with his girlfriend, albeit without the winner’s medal around his neck.
