Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, Joseph Baena, is following in his father’s footsteps. The bodybuilding legend won multiple world championships during his career, and now his son, who is making inroads in the sport, has secured another title after his debut competition win. Safe to say, Baena is thriving under his father’s guidance.
Joseph Baena wins second bodybuilding competition
Baena won the INBA Iron Gladiator Classic Physique title in Corona, California. This is a major milestone in his bodybuilding career, and he has not even reached his full potential, as it is just his second-ever bodybuilding competition. He made his debut just a week earlier at the NPC Natural Colorado State Championships, where he won multiple titles.
In his latest win, he earned first place in the Classic Physique division, claiming the title. The 28-year-old athlete has also earned his pro status with this win. Meanwhile, in his debut, he won three gold medals at the NPC Natural Colorado State Championships, finishing on top in the Men’s Open Bodybuilding Heavyweight class, Classic Physique True Novice, and Classic Physique Novice categories.
“Your new INBA Iron Gladiator Classic Physique Champion!” Baena wrote on X, as he posted videos of himself along with other competitors striking poses for the judges.
Baena started his fitness journey through swimming, attempting to cut weight in his teens, as he described himself as a “chubby kid.” “People sometimes forget that I used to be chubby in high school,” he recounted, adding, “I got cut from my basketball and soccer team because I couldn’t keep up with the other kids. Swimming didn’t have tryouts, thankfully, and completely changed my life forever.”
Thereafter, he got into weightlifting during college and decided earlier this year to fully commit himself to bodybuilding competitions. Safe to say, he has made an immediate impact with multiple wins in two competitions.
Reportedly, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been helping Baena with his training for competitions. He has been assisting his son with posing and other preparations ahead of competitions at Gold’s Gym in Los Angeles, California. Even though the Terminator actor couldn’t attend the events, he has been actively mentoring him.
With the seven-time Mr. Olympia taking him under his wing, the sky is the limit for Baena. Now, whether he will be able to keep the momentum in the professional circuit, only time will tell.
