Anna Wintour, when asked about whether or not she would make a cameo appearance in the upcoming sequel, did not give a straight-out yes or no, but instead gave a response that immediately sparked curiosity.
“That’s for you to find out.” Anna Wintour’s response is one that is reminiscent of Miranda Priestly, Anna Wintour’s character, whose character is rumored to have been somewhat inspired by Anna Wintour herself.
Anna Wintour, however, did share her thoughts about how she looks at The Devil Wears Prada today, something that was not quite possible back then, especially considering how many comparisons were drawn between Anna Wintour’s character and her.
“Obviously, 20 years later, one has a different perspective,” she said, suggesting that she now looks back on the movie as more of a stylized piece rather than a personal jab.
She also had kind words for the cast, specifically Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, all of whose performances were “extraordinary.”
Her recent appearance at the 2026 Oscars only served to further fuel these rumors. When standing alongside Anne Hathaway, Vogue’s editor-in-chief leaned into the legacy of the film in a subtle yet obvious way.
When Hathaway asked if she wanted to read the nominees, Wintour responded, “Thank you, Emily,” a nod to one of the many jokes about her character throughout the film. Later, Wintour passed up commenting on Hathaway’s dress, donning her signature sunglasses and moving on without a word.
