Dunne is a former gymnast at Louisiana State University and became a social media sensation as the highest-paid female college athlete and has over 15 million followers. She has also featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

The show stars Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon, who is the head of a Baywatch lifeguard team and the son of the original hero Mitch Buchannon from the original show, played by David Hasselhoff.

The life of Hobie Buchannon becomes complicated when his previously unknown daughter, Charlie Vale, played by Jessica Belkin, enters the scene and wants to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a part of the lifeguard team.

The ensemble also includes actress Shay Mitchell as Trina, a former lawyer who now works as a lifeguard; actress Hassie Harrison as Nat, an Olympic athlete who is also Hobie’s partner; actress Brooks Nader as Selene, a rival beach captain; actor Noah Beck as rookie lifeguard Luke; and actor Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, a former Marine. The veteran actor David Chokachi will also be reprising his role as Cody Madison, who is now the owner of the Shoreline bar-and-grill.

The new series is being produced by Matt Nix, who is best known for creating the hit TV series Burn Notice. The premiere episode is being directed by McG. The original creators of the 1990s hit are also attached to the new series to ensure that the essence of the original is retained.

The new series is a joint production of Fox Entertainment and Fremantle. The new series has been given a 12-episode straight-to-series order. The new series is expected to air during the 2026-2027 television season.
