Potterheads, better buckle up because this will be a magical yet bumpy ride. HBO released the trailer for the Harry Potter TV series. Dominic McLaughlin plays the role of Harry Potter while Arabella Stanton and Alistair Stout star as Hermione Granger and Ron. The teaser gave a peek into the seen and unseen, and here are some things you may have missed out, so let’s take a look!
5. Harry’s forehead scar
Harry Potter is famous for his lightning scar on his forehead. But did you know that books do not mention where exactly the forehead scar actually is? The movies portray his scar in the middle, while the trailer did the complete opposite; the scar is on the right side of his forehead, both of which are lore-accurate. Harry often covers the scar with his hair, which is synonymous with both the movies and the series.
Other than that, the trailer also features never-before-seen snowball scenes, which weren’t expanded on in the films. The Quidditch scenes and Hagrid’s snow fairy moments are absolutely delightful.
4. Greenhouse scenes
Yet another interesting detail about the trailer is the greenhouse scenes. Yes, the greenhouse was initially introduced in Philosopher’s Stone, and, sadly, the scenes didn’t make it to the movie. The series, however, is staying true to the source material and casting. We see the herbology lessons being conducted in the greenhouse by Professor Sprout in the newly released trailer.
3. Harry’s bullying in school
If there’s one thing that the movies skimped on, it’s the scenes that highlighted Harry Potter’s bullying. The trailer gave a peek into the turmoil he faced both in school and at home. His initial days in the Muggle world were marked by Dudley Dursley bullying him along with his gang. The films show a dialed-down version of the bullying, reducing it to hazing, while the trailer reflects the disturbing nature of Harry’s past.
2. Petunia cuts Harry’s hair
It’s all about the details with this series. The trailer opens with the scene where Harry is shoved into his cramped cupboard room. It is then followed by Petunia snipping off his hair, but she keeps some of it for him to hide his scar. In the books, she aggressively cuts her nephew’s hair, but it grows back magically the next day. The trailer underlines this detail, which makes one thing clear: the series might flesh out the instances of Harry’s powers and how unrestrained they are in the beginning.
1. Petunia Dursley is blonde
Bel Powley plays the lore-accurate version of Petunia Dursley, nee Evans. Harry’s sadistic aunt is actually blonde, according to the books. She has a long neck and is somewhat written out to be a caricaturish character. This is mainly due to her long neck, which some say she uses to spy on neighbors and friends alike.
Lastly, the trailer also showed one of the most heartfelt moments between Harry and Ron. They celebrated Christmas by roasting marshmallows in the fire in their dorm room. It all ties in well with the series’ release, which is scheduled for Christmas.
