Sorry, Charizard! These Pokémon are my favorites

10. Pikachu & Eevee

10. Pikachu & Eevee

Pikachu is the world-famous Electric-type mouse that represents the second stage of its evolution line, evolving from the baby Pichu through friendship and later evolving into Raichu with a Thunder Stone. It stores energy in the yellow pouches on its cheeks to deliver a crushing Volt Tackle or Thunderbolt. Eevee is a unique Normal-type with an "unstable" genetic makeup that allows it to evolve into eight different forms, known as Eeveelutions, like the dark-dwelling Umbreon or the sun-loving Espeon. While Eevee itself is small, its ability to adapt to its environment makes it one of the most versatile and beloved companions in the world.

9. Gardevoir

9. Gardevoir

This elegant Psychic and Fairy-type is the final stage of the Ralts evolution line, evolving from Ralts into Kirlia and finally into Gardevoir at level 30 (unless a male Kirlia is given a Dawn Stone to become Gallade). It is famously loyal and can see into the future to protect its trainer, even creating small black holes using its mental strength to stop enemies. It floats slightly off the ground to defy gravity and uses its high special power to fire attacks like Moonblast. It can also mega evolve into Mega Gardevoir, which amplifies its psychic potential and heart-based energy.

8. Lucario

8. Lucario

Lucario is a Fighting and Steel-type that evolves from the small Riolu when it shares a high level of friendship with its trainer during the day. It fights using Aura, a special energy that lets it read the emotions of others and "see" invisible enemies, which it can also fire as a concentrated energy ball called Aura Sphere. It is a very serious and disciplined fighter that understands human speech and can even communicate through telepathy. When it uses a Mega Stone to Mega Evolve, its aura markings grow, and its battling instincts are pushed to the absolute limit.

7. Gengar

7. Gengar

A mischievous spirit that loves to play pranks, this Ghost and Poison-type is the final stage of a three-part evolution line, starting as the small Gastly and evolving into Haunter before reaching its full form through trading. It is very fast and has a high special attack, allowing it to use moves like Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb to hit hard and disappear. You can tell if a Gengar is nearby because the temperature will suddenly drop by 10 degrees as it absorbs the heat around it. It can reach even more terrifying levels of power by Mega Evolving or Gigantamaxing into a massive, portal-like maw.

6. Groudon & Kyogre

6. Groudon & Kyogre

These ancient titans are the personification of the earth and the sea, and they have been rivals since the beginning of time. Groudon is a Ground-type that can become a Ground and Fire-type through Primal Reversion, using its Desolate Land ability to evaporate water and create new land with its signature move Precipice Blades. Kyogre is a Water-type that uses Primal Reversion and its Primordial Sea ability to summon massive rainstorms, attacking with beams of energy called Origin Pulse. They do not have standard evolution stages, but their Primal forms allow them to reclaim the overwhelming power they held in the ancient past.

5. Dialga & Palkia

5. Dialga & Palkia

These two are the guardians of the very fabric of our world; Dialga is a Steel and Dragon-type that keeps time moving with every beat of its heart, while Palkia is a Water and Dragon-type whose breathing keeps physical space stable. Dialga is made of hard steel, making it very tough to hurt, and it uses Roar of Time to distort the flow of the past and future. Palkia is a master of the water and dimensions, allowing it to use Spatial Rend to tear through the fabric of reality. Neither Pokémon has evolution stages, but both can transform into their massive Origin Formes, which represent their true, god-like strength at the dawn of time.

4. Giratina

4. Giratina

Banished to a dark, "upside-down" world for its violent behavior, this Ghost and Dragon-type Pokémon guards the Distortion World, a dimension where common sense doesn't apply. In our world, it takes a heavy, six-legged Altered Forme that is incredibly hard to damage, while in its home dimension, it turns into a floating, serpentine Origin Forme that is much more aggressive. It uses its signature move, Shadow Force, to vanish from reality before striking through any defensive barriers. It does not evolve into or from anything else, but it can shift between these two powerful forms using the Griseous Orb.

3. Rayquaza

3. Rayquaza

Residing high above the clouds in the ozone layer, this massive green Dragon and Flying-type serpent acts as the world’s ultimate peacekeeper. It eats tiny meteoroids to fuel its body, which gives it the energy to Mega Evolve into Mega Rayquaza without needing a special stone, provided it knows the move Dragon Ascent. It is famous for its Air Lock ability, which instantly clears away heavy rain, harsh sunlight, or sandstorms, making it the perfect counter to other weather-controlling Pokémon. When it flies, it looks like a glowing meteor, and it can strike with such speed that enemies often don't see it coming. It is a standalone Legendary Pokémon with no traditional evolution stages.

2. Mewtwo

2. Mewtwo

This man-made Psychic-type Pokémon was designed to be the ultimate soldier, with a brain that works faster than any supercomputer. Because it was built for combat, it has an incredibly high special attack strength, allowing it to blast through enemies with pure mental energy and moves like Psystrike, which hits the opponent's physical durability using mental force. It is famously grumpy and untrusting because of the experiments performed on it, but it uses that intensity to shield itself and exhaust its enemies just by being near them. While it does not evolve from another Pokémon, it is a clone of the Mythical Mew and can reach even greater heights through Mega Evolution into Mega Mewtwo X (Psychic/Fighting) or Mega Mewtwo Y (Psychic).

1. Arceus

1. Arceus

Born from a cosmic egg before the universe existed, this legendary creator is the Normal-type "Original One" who shaped reality with its own hands. It has a balanced body that allows it to be good at everything, whether it is attacking, defending, or moving quickly. By holding special elemental plates, it can change its physical makeup to become any of the 18 different types, making it the most flexible fighter in existence. Its power is so great that it can essentially "rewrite" the rules of a battle using its signature move Judgment, which fires beams of energy that adapt to match its current type, ensuring it always has the upper hand. As a Mythical Pokémon, it does not have any evolution stages.
