I have watched close to 60 anime in 2025, and these 10 anime I honestly regret watching

10. Rent A Girlfriend Season 4

10. Rent A Girlfriend Season 4

Honestly, it is clear by season four that Rent-A-Girlfriend has been experiencing story fatigue. The progression of the central plot for Kazuya and Chizuru has come to a halt. The character development that should have been happening seasons ago is instead going backwards. The production elements of this show continue to come through, but the story is following familiar patterns that never lead to an end. The romance that began as a slow burn has clearly been extended far too long.

9. Go! Go! Loser Rangers! Season 2

9. Go! Go! Loser Rangers! Season 2

The first season delivered in its defiance of sentai norms, whereas the second struggles to maintain such simplicity. The satire begins to lose its edge in terms of its scale as the story broadens its range, comments Rosemary Heniadis in her review. The new add-ons in the plot undermine the original story as opposed to enhancing it. The reader cannot readily discern the motives of the characters. The imagery remains strong, but the text itself fails to retain the topicality of the first volume.

8. Babanbabanban Vampire

8. Babanbabanban Vampire

This series incorporates a great amount of absurd comedy and does not branch out well from the concept. The comedy comes about quickly, and there does not appear to be any plot development. The characters are only used to deliver an ending to a joke and nothing more than that. There does not seem to be much progression or escalation within the series, even for a series of its kind. The animation does nothing to enhance the lack of plot.

7. Uglymug, Epicfighter

7. Uglymug, Epicfighter

The premise is the start of an interesting power fantasy, but the execution lacks enough entertainment to get interested. The absence of tension from the heroine's incredible strength is not relieved by the overall series. The world and other characters are left unexplored. The series conforms to the isekai genre conventions without interpreting them in a captivating way. The anime itself is not bad, but there is not much to continue watching it for.

6. Beheneko

6. Beheneko

Though the graphic representation is quite fascinating, the series, Beheneko, lacks cohesion. This is attributed to the fact that the series tends to switch between genres such as comedy, fantasy, and action while following the story’s progression. While the story is hurrying, the character growth is shallow as well. This is because the series exhibits ideas, yet does not explore them. The result is the fact that the series does not connect on the emotional aspect because of the lack of cohesion.

5. Yandere Dark Elf

5. Yandere Dark Elf

It’s more of a shock-value type of series as opposed to any type of storytelling. The yandere character is taken so far that it is predictable. This is one thing where there is nothing to be surprised about. The characters can be represented by their extremes. This is something where there is nothing being put into exploring the mental aspect of the character and what is happening as a result.

4. Übel Blatt

4. Übel Blatt

Based on the material it got from the popular dark fantasy manga series, a lot of hope was placed on the anime series. Unfortunately, it falls short in terms of its tempo and mood. There’s also a mismatched emphasis when it comes to the development of the characters, adding to its complexity for a newcomer and confusing the regular viewer in the process. The series misses the point when it comes to the scenes, aiming for the violence instead of the emotional depth.

3. Momentary Lily

3. Momentary Lily

This series seeks emotional complexity but lacks a storyline. There is an atmosphere created by these pictures, but there is no connection to a storyline. This series shows characters that are emblazoned with meaning but are not given adequate attention. This series is slow-moving but lacks reflection. This series is unfinished business concerning a storyline. This series is striking but not conclusive.

2. The Rising of the Shield Hero season 4

2. The Rising of the Shield Hero season 4

However, from season four, most of the freshness that once characterized this series is now lost. The theme and elements include distrust and survival, which have all been set aside for conventional fantasy elements. There is no progress in the development of Naofumi. The presence of conflict is now less meaningful. The elements of secondary characters have also been set aside.

1. One Punch Man Season 3

1. One Punch Man Season 3

Of course, this one sadly leads the list. The hype is quite high, and the troubles that the series is experiencing this season do not satisfy the long wait. There is no regular flow in the episodes’ rhythm and pacing, and the development of the necessary storylines does not have the required momentum. There are differences in the quality of the animation and, more importantly, in the crucial action scenes. It seems that Saitama’s involvement is reduced somewhat, and the other developments do not have the chance to capture the audience’s interest. This is why it is the most difficult series to follow this year.
