10 worst Pokemon, ranked

10. Watchog

10. Watchog

Watchog is the evolution of Patrat and is largely hated for its "disturbing" glaring eyes and its role as an annoying early-game encounter. It is notorious for spamming moves like Confuse Ray and Hypnosis, making it a chore to fight while offering almost no value to a player’s endgame team. It appeared frequently in the Black & White anime, often as a lookout or an irritant for the main cast.

9. Shedinja

9. Shedinja

Shedinja is a high-risk experiment with exactly 1 HP, making it one of the most fragile Pokémon ever created. While its Wonder Guard ability makes it immune to anything that isn't a "Super Effective" hit, it is instantly knocked out by passive damage like Sandstorm, Poison, or Stealth Rocks. In the anime, its mystery was treated as a terrifying puzzle, but in the games, it is often a "dead weight" that disappears before it can even move.

8. Metapod / Kakuna

8. Metapod / Kakuna

These mid-stage Bug types feel like pure “in-between” forms, offering little to no real value in a team. If you encounter one in the wild, it often knows nothing but Harden, turning battles into drawn-out stalemates where it simply boosts its defense while slowly getting worn down. The anime even poked fun at this during Ash’s battle with a Samurai, where two Metapods just kept hardening against each other for hours until both trainers eventually called it quits.

7. Delibird

7. Delibird

Delibird is a festive gimmick that can just as easily backfire as it can help. Its signature move, Present, comes with a risky twist, it might damage the opponent or end up healing them for as much as a quarter of their max HP. While its "Hustle" ability offers some niche upside, Delibird’s poor defensive stats leave it extremely fragile, making it a tough pick for any serious playthrough.

6. Vanilluxe

6. Vanilluxe

The Vanillite line is the primary target for critics who believe the series has "run out of ideas" by turning inanimate objects into monsters. It is literally a floating triple-scoop ice cream cone, a design many veterans find too uninspired to take seriously. Despite this, it has seen some competitive use in "Hail" teams, proving it has more utility than its silly appearance suggests.

5. Jynx

5. Jynx

Jynx remains one of the most disliked Pokémon due to its uncomfortable humanoid design and its history of racial caricature controversies. Even after its skin color was changed to purple, it remains a "creepy" outlier that many fans wish would be removed from the Pokédex. Its appearances in the classic anime are now rarely aired or are heavily edited to avoid the original design controversy.

4. Bruxish

4. Bruxish

Often cited as the ugliest design in the franchise, Bruxish looks like a neon-colored nightmare with human-like teeth and lips. While it has a niche ability, its aesthetic is so jarring that most players refuse to have it on their team, regardless of its utility.

3. Unown

3. Unown

Conceptually, Unown is fascinating, but mechanically, it is a disaster. It can only learn one move (Hidden Power), which was actually removed from some recent games, rendering Unown functionally useless. Collecting all 28 forms is a nightmare for completionists with zero competitive reward.

2. Luvdisc

2. Luvdisc

Luvdisc is the gold standard for "pointless" Pokémon. It has abysmal stats, it doesn't evolve into anything (missing a perfect opportunity to become Alomomola), and its only real purpose in the games was to be farmed for Heart Scales. It is the definition of a wasted Pokédex slot.

1. Gholdengo

1. Gholdengo

Ranked #1 on many 2026 lists, Gholdengo is widely criticized for looking less like a Pokémon and more like a mascot for a brand of string cheese or a stack of coins. Despite being the milestone 1,000th Pokémon, many fans feel its design is "tacky" and "over-the-top," lacking the organic feel of the series.
