Landman, Tulsa King, and Lioness have been renewed for this year. Paramount has also added the critically acclaimed supernatural series School Spirits to this list. The series is renewed for its fourth season, and here’s what fans need to know.
School Spirits Season 4 announced
As reported by Variety, School Spirits’ Season 4 has officially been greenlit. Peyton List and Milo Manheim will reprise their roles in the series, but there’s a catch to it. The plot thickens, and the characters find themselves more entangled the more they try to escape the situation. Season 3 was pure psychological horror as Maddie experiences disturbing events along with flashbacks.
With Alfred Van Heidt possessing Maddie’s mother, things are about to get ugly. It concerns her family as the character ventures into the human realm. The divide between the spirit world and the physical plane is rather blurred.
Also, in the past few seasons, Maddie has had the choice to cross over and return to her state. She chose to help her friends in the spirit world, and with Season 4, she will be faced with the same conflict.
Maddie’s journey in the entire series is anything but linear, which is what makes the show all the more interesting. It doesn’t follow a standard framework of time. Rather its a constant back-and-forth reflection of time, memories, moral choices, and how purgatory actually works.
In an interview with Variety, Megan Trinrud, the writer behind School Spirits, shed light on the general perception of an afterlife. Rather than keeping it strictly confined within a common definition, Trinrud sees it as open-ended.
“We’ve always agreed we don’t want to define what the afterlife is. We don’t know, so we want to leave it open. But we felt there had to be levels to closure and finding peace.“
Season 4 might also bring Van Heidt’s ulterior motives to light. His history as a malevolent spirit will resurface in the upcoming season, as some speculated.
