To say The Boys is popular would be an understatement. The superhero series has been an absolute banger ever since its premiere, and with Season 5, it’ll mark its finale. Eric Kripke recently gave viewers a peek into what one can expect from the upcoming season.

Eric Kripke on The Boys’ final season

Eric Kripke, the showrunner behind The Boys, spilled the beans on the season finale. He spoke to GamesRadar about the deaths, showdowns, and the budget cuts that affected the season finale, as a result.

When asked if there will be any major deaths, he said, “We still don’t have GOT budget, but there are a lot of very direct confrontations; a lot of the people that you want to see smashing into each other smash into each other.”

Aside from budget cuts, most projects get dropped and even axed halfway through before they can even make it to the final season or debut, for that matter. Buffy reboot and Hitman were subsequently cancelled for various reasons.

For The Boys, Kripke maneuvered Season 4 in a way to ensure he had enough creative liberty over the show. This was regarding Amazon’s higher-ups pushing for the show to be wrapped in 5 seasons. The Director left loose threads in the fourth season so he could finish the series in his own terms.

Kripke revealed this in the same interview, saying, “I kept saying to Amazon, ‘This is going to be five’. They let me finish season four, and it ends with the world exploding, right? There’s really nowhere else to go except the finale. Some of the senior executives were like, ‘Wait, do you really want to end it with season five?’ I’m like, ‘I wasn’t joking. And respectfully, you have no choice.’”

Season 5 might not have a magnanimous budget like Game of Thrones; however, fans speculate that the showdowns will be epic. They’re eagerly waiting for the legendary final battle between Homelander and Billy Butcher.

The Boys Season 5 is scheduled for release on 8th April 2026. It will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
