Fresh off her Olympic win, Alysa Liu is one of the hottest names in sports these days, and of course, fans everywhere have already begun to wonder what is next for her. One of the latest rumors about her that really began to take off recently is whether or not fans would see her on Dancing With The Stars. Well, Liu herself has already made her position quite clear, at least where Dancing With The Stars is concerned.

Alysa Liu Discusses Dancing With The Stars

During a recent red carpet interview, Liu herself discussed the rumors about Dancing With The Stars. While she did admit that dancing is something that she actually really enjoys, there is clearly no commitment to Dancing With The Stars just yet.

“I don’t know if I would do Dancing With The Stars… I love dancing, and I think I’m gonna, but I don’t know if I would do it. At least for now,” Liu explained to those present.

Liu herself gave fans a glimpse into just how overwhelming her life had really been since her Olympic win. “I feel really good… but it’s been a lot. Definitely messages. I got a ton of messages. I haven’t gone through all of them. I can’t,” Liu explained to those present.

Even the attention itself is something that Liu herself finds a bit surreal. “Yeah, it does feel surreal… just being here, talking, wearing something like this,” Liu said while walking the red carpet.

She later reaffirmed her statement in another interview, saying, “I have so much respect for the dancers on that show, but right now, my brain is just mush. The thought of learning a Tango right now makes me want to take a nap for three years.”

This is certainly bad news for fans hoping to see Liu appear on the show in Season 34. Liu’s response is also a reflection of a change in her approach to her career. Liu took a hiatus from competition in 2022 and then made a comeback in 2024. Liu is taking steps to protect her mental space.

Liu is aware of the pressure Olympic athletes face when it comes to joining a show like Dancing With the Stars, but is letting everyone know that she is not following any set rules. Liu says, “I’m trying to do things on my own terms this time. If I do it, I want to actually enjoy it, not just do it because it’s the next step.”

This is a reflection of her growth, especially considering what she had to go through with regard to burnout. Timing is also a factor in Liu’s decision. Liu says, “The 2026/2027 figure skating season is my priority right now. I know I’m going to be training for a big competition, and I know I’m going to be skating in the Grand Prix series. That conflicts with DWTS rehearsals.”
