They don’t call her Queen of Country for nothing. Dolly Parton has a remarkable career with hits like Jolene, 9 to 5, Coat of Many Colors, and so on. She recently spoke up about her health issues in her first public appearance.
Dolly Parton opens up about her health
In a conversation with WVLT, Dolly Parton shared her current health status, saying, “I’ve not been touring, as you know. I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them. I just got myself kind of where I needed to build myself back up spiritually, emotionally, and physically. But all is good. It didn’t slow me down.”
2025 was a tough year for the country singer. She lost her husband, Carl Dean, in March 2025, and she posted an update about it, saying, “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.”
Dolly Parton and Carl Dean were married for almost 59 years until he passed away at the age of 82, but that’s not all. In September 2025, Parton spoke up about kidney issues, most specifically stones that were becoming an issue. She decided to take a pause with her shows and concerts to focus more on her health and healing.
As mentioned, the singer also needed some time to grieve. “I just kind of got worn down and worn out, grieving over Carl and a lot of other little things going on.”
It was after the kidney issues that she decided to cancel her Las Vegas residency. She appeared publicly almost a year after Dean’s passing to open the new season of Dollywood Park.
Amidst celebrations and preparations, the singer revealed that she is taking her own time and space to focus on her health. This explains her absence from the public eye. Her recent appearance led to fans taking to the internet and pouring their love and support.
